Not to mince the matter, an organisation or an individual that fails to set up the right structure for for identifying its internal and external challenges will find it difficult to get to the frontline of a true strategy and attendant effectiveness. In earnest, such an organisation or an individual will not be optimised to take advantage of the opportunities that lie within and outside of it. Effectiveness comes in the wake of a true strategy.

On account of not defining the challenge or obstacle facing an organisation, a strategy embraces ineffectiveness. A bad strategy springs forth by statements of desire without actionable plans for overcoming obstacles. A strategic objective, a means to an end or a greater goal, is defective if it shies away from the critical issues facing a company or organisation or if they are impracticable.


Undeniably, a true strategy should explain why a situation or a state of affairs, either internal or external or both, is now a threat to the survival of a company or an organisation. It highlights which instruments, departments and personnel of a company are required to remedy the problem or situation or to seek collaboration with others for neutralizing the problem.

A bad strategy is big on goals but short on policy or action; it frequently boasts of incoherent strategic objectives that are totally impracticable.

An effective true strategy charts a way through a difficulty. It rallies a company up to respond to a challenge and overcome an obstacle. An undefined challenge brings about a difficulty in assessing the quality of a strategy. Assessing the quality of a strategy calls for an improvement or a rejection.

Identifying and analyzing obstacles are hallmarks of a true strategy. A budget and wishful thinking cannot correct the anomaly of a bad strategy.

To count to effectiveness, a true strategy boasts of policies based on a realistic appraisal of obstacles to innovation. It defines the challenge, anticipates the real-life difficulties to be overcome, creates policies that concentrate resources and actions to overcome those difficulties.
